I can hardly believe we are nearly at Easter again. I know March can feel like a 'long' month, but it has absolutely flown by for me.
The photo above is from the Craft Fair I mentioned in my last newsletter. It took place in the reception area of the Galway County Council building, and the reason it took place in the first week of March is that both Local Enterprise Week and Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) take place then. All the local businesses taking part had Irish-speaking stall holders, and it was a lovely opportunity to take part in a fair which was a little bit different. As with any new craft fair, it's hard to know how it will go, but I was happy to make some sales, and chat to other stall holders and my dear customers. And you can see that I was able to squeeze in some knitting time as well!
It's an interesting balance knitting for sale, AND knitting being my main hobby. I absolutely love that people are willing to part with their hard-earned cash for something I made, and I love creating knitwear for myself too. I try to go with the flow on this one - sometimes I want to knit items for myself, and sometimes I have a new idea, which means lots of knitting the same thing several times to get the design worked out, and to have lovely samples to photograph. I have a new design which I am knitting samples for, but it's not a summery item, so I'm afraid there will be a wait before that one appears. It will be a combination of a new accessory and an old motif - any guesses?!
New-ish to the website are two Aran jumpers created by my mother; one in dark blue and one in a khaki green. She also made some more Aran caps for me, which I will be adding to the website this week. Only one of each available, so keep an eye out if you want a genuine Aran knit hat : )
